It has been no secret that the journey to the grid for Ipswich based racing driver Lydia Walmsley has been a tougher task than ever before in a bid to contest the 2026 season.

After a hugely successful 2025 campaign and learning new tricks of the trade after an eight year journey in front-wheeled drive race cars, Walmsley made the leap into the world of GT racing. The change in career direction required a quick adaption to the world of rear wheel drive cars with much more power than she had previously been used to. With some determination brought success finishing her maiden Porsche season as vice-champion. This of course meant the move to the faster RS category was inevitable, and despite a huge increase in media exposure, this ultimately produced a much larger budget requirement.

Up until even just weeks ago, Walmsley’s future in the sport looked entirely uncertain. However, at the final hour, just two days before the annual media day, Walmsley signed her deal with new team Clean Racing and entered her championship. It goes without saying that none of this would have been possible without the continued and dedicated support from her very loyal partners, many of whom are now multi-year supporters and are all just as invested in the journey as Walmsley and her team are.
